Daniel Rausis was born on March 19, 1959, in Martigny, Switzerland. His father hailed from Basel, while his mother, a seamstress, was from Valais. He has an older sister and a younger brother or sister.
Rausis attended school with Christian Constantin and completed his high school education, specializing in Latin and sciences, in 1980 at the Collège de l’Abbaye de Saint-Maurice, after repeating a year. He then went on to study at the Faculty of Theology at the University of Fribourg.
From 1984 to 1999, Rausis worked part-time as a religion teacher in Sierre. During his time as a teacher, he was also a conscientious objector and spent three months in Valère Prison in 1982.
Rausis is married and has three children.
In 1987, Rausis joined Radio suisse romande, initially working on Espace 2, where he hosted shows such as “Midi dièse” and “les Matinales.” From 1993 onwards, he moved to La Première and hosted the show “Vos désirs font désordre.” In 1995, he became a founding member of the program “Les Dicodeurs.” Rausis also hosted shows on TSR (Television Suisse Romande), performed in theater and cinema, wrote columns for newspapers, and penned numerous librettos for choirs.
